This has led to opportunities to improve meat quality and other characteristics in pig herds. The new technology will allow producers to genetically select pigs\u00a0that\u00a0have desireable\u00a0traits like good feed efficiency, which is expensive to measure, and meat quality, which is something\u00a0that now can only be assessed\u00a0after a pig has be slaughtered.
