Samples were taken from healthy and unfit swine tonsils and compared. Unfit pigs had a greater diversity of bacteria, and associations were found between the presence of\u00a0<em>Mycoplasma<\/em> and illnesses including anemia, abscesses, and PRRS. Both healthy and ill animals had\u00a0<em>Streptococcus <\/em>sp<em>., Flavobacteria <\/em>sp<em>.,Clostridia <\/em>sp<em>., Lactobacillus <\/em>sp<em>., Bacillus <\/em>sp., and <em>Fusobacterium <\/em>sp.
