Whey, a product of the\u00a0dairy processing industry, has well-known beneficial properties as a\u00a0feed additive and is typically fed to newly weaned pigs in dry form. The\u00a0drying process however, increases the cost. Swine producers in close\u00a0proximity to dairy processing plants may have access to liquid whey\u00a0products. \u00a0Th ere has been very little research conducted to determine how\u00a0inclusion of liquid whey would affect nutrient intake in nursery pigs, which became the objective of this experiment. Overall, when liquid\u00a0whey was fed to nursery pigs (via their water supply), they decreased\u00a0feed intake to voluntarily control for total energy intake. Throughout\u00a0the trial pigs remained in good health and no adverse effects were seen\u00a0from feeding the whey.
