Following a one\u00a0week long challenge, six week old piglets fed a lower \u03c9-6: \u03c9-3 ratio had\u00a0increased protein deposition rates, increased liver protein synthesis\u00a0rates and increased average daily weight gains relative to those pigs\u00a0consuming a diet with a higher \u03c9-6: \u03c9-3 FA ratio when feed intakes\u00a0were similar. Protein synthesis was unaff ected by the presence of an\u00a0LPS induced inflammatory challenge.
