By spring 2007, Pauls and his colleagues hope to have<br \/>\nmapped genes expressed in infected corn tissues, and identified<br \/>\ncorn genes similar to those differentially expressed<br \/>\nbetween resistant and susceptible wheat and barley varieties.<br \/>\nWheat and barley are affected by the same fungus.
