Dietary Enzyme Improves Nutrient Digestibility of Canola Meal-Diets
Non-starch polysaccharides and fiber limit the nutritional value of cereal grains and canola meal. A dietary enzyme (non-starch polysaccharides-degrading enzymes, ß-glucanase and xylanase) was studied on cannulated weaned pigs, looking at increasing nutrient digestibility. Degrading non-starch polysaccharides through supplemental enzymes improved ileal digestibility of amino acids and energy with a wheat- or barley-canola diet.
